Kimberly M. Jenkins

Kimberly M. Jenkins Project Director

Prof. Jenkins is Assistant Professor of Fashion Studies in the School of Fashion at Ryerson University, lecturing previously at Parsons School of Design and Pratt Institute. Kim designed an elective course and exhibition entitled, Fashion and Race, sharing her insight at SXSW and Google HQ. Her expertise on fashion, race and cultural awareness led to advising positions with Gucci and Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana. As a fashion educator and consultant with an interest in social psychology, innovation and representational justice, her work harnesses the interdisciplinary nature of fashion studies to examine the implications of ‘race’ in fashion history, business and image-making. Her aim for this database project is to organize and present a repository of invaluable resources that decentralizes the study of fashion, progresses cultural and individual knowledge and implores a call to action amongst institutions and leaders in the fashion system to broaden their understanding.
