This short docu-Film performance shows the process of hair-braided sculptures. This presentation also chronicles the artist’s studio practice during quarantine. Literary, film and television references comprise a horrific-chill-giddy-up, “as JoGoesWest,” in the artist’s words. The result is a meditation on Juneteenth as holiday and inquiry on how it may continue to exist as active and poetic metaphor.
