Are you passionate about the intersections of labor rights, environmental science, fashion design and business? If you are a currently-enrolled post-graduate student who has conducted or participated in research on topics including but not limited to: sustainable fashion, circular systems, biomaterials, textile waste reduction, etc. and would like to attend this gathering, please submit an abstract of your research, a short bio (no more than 100 words) and a 250-450 word statement describe how attending the Consortium connects to your academic/ professional goals.

Attendees will include professors from Harvard University, Parsons School of Design, Columbia University, Brown University, Bard College, New York University, the Fashion Institute of Technology, and brands like Eileen Fisher and Mara Hoffman. They will share their work with the goal of future collaboration on projects, resources, and research.

Entry Guidelines

This contest is open to any student currently enrolled in an accredited post-graduate studies program that has conducted, assisted, authored, or in any other way participated in research pertaining to sustainable fashion, including but not limited to concepts of circularity, waste reduction, emissions reduction, resale economies, garment worker rights, etc.

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must submit a 250-450 word description of your research and why you are interested in attending the Consortium. Please also include a short bio (100 words) and your contact information. Submissions will be accepted from October 1, 2020 to October 31, 2020.  Applications will be reviewed by a panel of industry experts who will grade the submission on the basis of quality of work, relevance, contribution to the field, innovative thinking, and strength of connection between attending the consortium and professional goals. The review panel will select eight graduate students to attend the online 2020 TNFI Academic Consortium. The selectees will be expected to prepare a fifteen minute presentation on their work to be shared with the other attendees of the Academic Consortium. The selectees will virtually attend the Academic Consortium, including presentations from industry experts and whiteboarding sessions. The selectees will have the opportunity to connect with experts in sustainable business, labor rights, circularity, and more. Submissions must be received by October 31st, 2020 via e-mail at:
