María Isabel Baldasarre has a Ph.D. in Art History and an undergraduate degree in Arts from Universidad de Buenos Aires. She is currently the National Director of Museums in Argentina and an Adjunct Professor at the Instituto de Altos Estudios Sociales (Institute of Higher Education in Social Studies) at Universidad Nacional de San Martín. She wrote the book Los dueños del arte. Coleccionismo y consumo cultural en Buenos Aires (The Owners of Art: Collecting and Cultural Consumption in Buenos Aires), published by Edhasa in 2006. She has edited Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes: Colección (National Museum of Fine Arts: The Collection), published in Buenos Aires in 2010 and co-edited Travesías de la imagen: Historias de las artes visuales en la Argentina (Image Crossings: Histories of the Visual Arts in Argentina), published in two volumes in Buenos Aires in 2011-2012. She is currently working on her book manuscript Bien vestidos. Una historia visual de la moda en Buenos Aires (1870-1915) (Well Dressed: A Visual History of Fashion in Buenos Aires, 1870-1915), forthcoming by Editorial Ampersand.
