Martha Sandoval Villegas holds a degree in Design and Marketing and graduated with honors from the Master’s in Art History at the School of Philosophy and Letters at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), where she is a Ph.D. candidate. She specializes in the study of fashion and dress in Viceregal Mexico. Her Ph.D. Dissertation is titled “La indumentaria del siglo XVIII en la Ciudad de México” (Eighteenth-Century Dress in Mexico City) and uses a combination of images (such as paintings, prints, and ceramics), periodicals, traveller’s accounts and chronicles, historical dress and textiles, and archival documents (such as inventories, dowry letters, private correspondence, and legal documents). She is a founding member of the Seminario de Estudios sobre Indumentaria y Modas en México (SEIMM, Seminary of Studies on Dress and Fashion in Mexico).
